Vedangas are disciplines associated with understanding and preserving Vedic study. They are commonly listed as Shiksha, Kalpa, Vyakarana, Nirukta, Chandas and Jyotisha.
These concern sound and recitation, ritual procedure, grammar, word explanation, metre and calendrical or astronomical matters. They are supporting disciplines, not six additional Vedas.
